NANETTE MBILI
Better known as Nanette, hails from Durban, KwaZulu Natal.
Following her high school graduation, in 2020 Nanette took to cultivating a career in music as a Bachelor of Arts student.
While navigating South Africa’s lockdown measures, Nanette worked on her SAMA29 nominated debut album, “Bad Weather”. Her musical palette was derived in her younger years when listening to artists like Whitney Houston, Brandy, Janet Jackson, and Beyonce. As she writes her music, she believes the process to be therapeutic, which further lends itself to her tendency towards R&B.
Since it’s release, “Bad Weather” debuted at no.10 in the continent on the Apple charts, with radio climber “Fire” donning Idahams as the only album feature. The project further went on to garner a “Best R&B Album” nomination at the 2023 South African Music Awards. Under the executive production of Lindelani Lee, (aka Lee Global), Nanette released a project that continues to influence the South African RnB scene.
In December 2022, she featured on two focus tracks on the new Kelvin Momo album ; AMUKELANI. She ranked number1 on the Spotify. YouTube Trending and Apple Music charts for both tracks, titled “Fool Me” and “Imfula”, respectively. Both features reached number 1 within the first week of release. In February 2023, Nanette worked wih Durex on a Valentines Day campaign where a song of hers titled “One Night” remixed and released.
Her latest offering, “The Waiting Room”, debuted at no. 4 on the Apple charts, featuring “Talk2Me” with Blxckie & BGRZ, a record that proves to be nothing but fun, catchy and timeless!
Her latest feature effort off of Emtee’s latest album, DIY3, is currently making waves at no. 3 on the RADIO MONITOR CHARTS SA (RAMS) and has been on the charts since its release on the 31st October.
