Call for applications: National School of Arts music teacher in Johannesburg
The National School of the Arts (NSA) in Johannesburg, South Africa is inviting experienced candidates to submit applications for the position of a full-time music teacher specialising in flute and recorder.
The successful candidate will earn a monthly salary of R25 000 (gross) and should have knowledge of classroom music (Grade 8-12) as well as experience in teaching music theory, harmony and history of music. The successful candidate must be able to teach flute and recorder up to Grade 8 ABRSM standard and have the ability to manage and/or conduct the school orchestra. Previous experience as a classroom music teacher will be an advantage.
Minimum requirements
- Bachelor of music or any relevant REQV 13 qualification.
- Postgraduate certificate in education.
- The incumbent will need SACE registration and police clearance.
The successful candidate must be a good team player, available and willing to work outside of regular school hours, when necessary, and to be an enthusiastic participant in the annual cultural programme of the school.
The candidate should possess the soft skills necessary to thrive in a specialist arts school environment. These skills include passion, patience, determination, and the ability to motivate and discipline.
