SAMAs open voting for Record of the Year and Music Video of the Year

Wanitwa Mos and Master KG are the leading nominees in the Music Video of the Year category, each securing three entries in the competition. Their tracks, ‘Dali Nguwe’ featuring Nkosazana Daughter, Basetsana and Obeey Amor and ‘Sofa Silahlane’ featuring Lowsheen and Nkosazana Daughter, are vying for the Music Video of the Year award, with ‘Dali Nguwe’ and ‘Sofa Silahlane’ also vying for the coveted Record of the Year.

Daliwonga is on an equal footing with Wanitwa Mos and Master KG, matching their impressive three Music Video of the Year nominations. He has been recognised for ‘Abo Mvelo’, which features Mellow & Sleazy and M.J, as well as his contributions to two other songs: ‘Banyana’ by DJ Maphorisa and Tyler ICU, and ‘Dipatje Tsa Felo’ by Felo, Le Tee and Myztro. The competition is equally fierce in the Record of the Year category, where ‘Abo Mvelo’ is also a formidable nominee.

DJ Maphorisa, who dominated the Music Video and Record of the Year nominations last year, has been nominated twice for his music videos this year. The spotlight this time goes to him and his partner, Kabza De Small, for their collaborations on ‘Banyana’ and ‘Adiwele’ by Young Stunna.

To vote, voters can SMS category code MYT for Music Video of the Year or RTY for Record of the Year followed by the artist code to 33441. SMS costs R1.50 on all mobile networks and free SMSs do not apply. The competition will run from 3 to 18 November.
