Will Jameson

Bio

Will Jameson is a popular figure in Malawi’s arts and culture industries. He is the founder of a renowned event called the Lake of Stars Music Festival. The event is well-known for bringing artists from different countries at one place where they can showcase their talents. It was born out of Will’s need to raise money to promote the country’s arts industry. Will made his maiden visit in the country in 1998 while working in Dwangwa as a volunteer with the Wildlife Society. The job allowed him to travel in countries such as Zimbabwe, Zambia and Mozambique.

He later returned to the UK where he initiated the idea of starting a night club with friends Damo Jones, Charlene McDaid and Rich McGinnis. In 2004, the club won the Best UK Club in the Mixmag Awards.

In the same year, he launched the first Lake of Stars festival. The event was well attended. That same year, the event was awarded an award by the Malawi Tourism Awards. This saw Will being named as one of the Observer and Courvoisier Future 500 for his pioneering work with the festival.
