Sarkodie’s Rapperholic Concert will come up on 25 December 2016 at the auditorium of the Accra International Centre, while Wizkid’s Starboy Homecoming is scheduled for 31 December at the Eko Convention Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, and 1 January 2017 at the New Afrika Shrine, Ikeja Lagos.
Rapperholic 2016 will be the fourth edition of what has become a year-ending celebration with Ghana’s leading rap artist and his friends. Last year, the concert featured stars like Wizkid, Fuse ODG, Shatta Wale, Samini, among others. This year, however, the concert is set to feature other artists on whose songs Sarkodie has been featured.
Wizkid made the announcement for Starboy Homecoming on his Twitter page, and said that proceeds from the show will be donated to charity. Unlike Sarkodie's annual event, it is unclear if Wizkid's will become a yearly fixture.
Wizkid has had a phenomenal 2016, gaining increasing worldwide recognition, multiple awards including the MTV Africa Music Award for Best Male Artist, and cementing himself as Nigeria’s, and perhaps Africa’s, marquee pop star. Some of his recent work include collaborations with Ghana's R2Bees and American singer Justine Skye.
