Shylo Pereira

BIO

Shylo is an artist from Durban, South Africa.

Shylo graduated from the Academy of Contemporary Music in UK with an honors in Performing Arts. She draws her inspiration from artists such as Barbra Streisand and Ella Fitzgerald. She started playing the violin and piano at the age of 4 and singing at nine. The violin and piano have had a huge influence on her singing and songwriting.

During her school years she competed in many eisteddfods and competitions, winning her categories every time, in all instruments. She has also attained distinctions in the ABRSM Grade 8 examinations for all three instruments, attaining some of the highest marks in the country.

She was a member of the KZN Youth Choir and the South African Youth Orchestra while in high school. Shylo studied at the prestigious Academy of Contemporary Music in UK, attaining her honours in Performing Arts, before joining the gigging circuit all over UK, including performing at the acclaimed Cobden Club and Sound Café, as well as music festivals performing alongside Simple Minds and BlondieIn 2010 she was a featured story for SA Idols. In 2014 she was the Overall Grand Champion winner at the South African Championships of Performing Arts, where she won a fully paid trip to Hollywood to compete in the World Championships.

More recently, Shylo released The Note Book on social media, where she released a song every week, with a story of her life attached to each song.

Shylo is involved in her community and is the founder of Project Performer.
