BIO

Schoolofthought is a hip hop group rooted in the classic boom-bap tradition, blending soulful, sample-driven beats with conscious, thought-provoking lyrics. Our music is designed to move both the mind and the body—rhythms that make your head nod, paired with messages that resonate on a deeper level.

Hip hop began as a creative movement in the mid-1970s, when DJs started isolating and looping the break sections of funk and soul records. These "breaks" became the foundation of a new musical language, later enhanced by MCs who would speak over the beats—paying homage to the records, sharing stories, and energizing crowds. From those early experiments, hip hop emerged as a powerful cultural force, capable of expressing the realities, struggles, and aspirations of communities around the world.

Today, hip hop is a global phenomenon, constantly evolving while staying rooted in its foundational elements. Schoolofthought is committed to honoring that tradition—especially the art of sampling, using fragments of old records to craft something timeless and fresh. Our lyrical content focuses on self-awareness, social consciousness, and inner transformation—topics that are increasingly relevant in a world undergoing rapid change.

We believe we’re entering an era where people are more open to introspection and awakening. Our music is a reflection of that shift—bridging the ancestral with the modern, like the elders once did around the fire, sharing knowledge through rhythm and storytelling. This is that same package, reimagined for today.
