BIO
Amma is a Lagos-born R&B artist, social media personality and content creator whose music explores the delicate balance between vulnerability and elegance. Rooted in the vibrant yet restless energy of Nigeria’s cultural capital, her sound is introspective and emotive, often lingering in quiet, reflective spaces that allow listeners to connect deeply with their own experiences.
Amma first gained recognition online as a social media and TikTok creator, where she built a strong following through viral dance videos and musical covers of popular songs. She began posting content in March 2020, quickly attracting attention for her expressive performances and creative interpretations. One of her standout covers includes her rendition of Bad Vibes by Nigerian singer Ayra Starr, further cementing her presence within the digital music community.
She graduated from Babcock University in July 2023, the same year she took a major step into professional music with the release of her debut original single, Broken Promises. The track, along with its acoustic version, showcased her songwriting ability and marked her transition from content creator to recording artist.
Amma’s artistic identity continued to evolve with her debut two-pack release, To What We Were, which introduced her as an artist with rare emotional clarity. Her music is characterised by its introspective nature, focusing less on resolution and more on honest expression. Through layered storytelling and minimal yet evocative soundscapes, she creates space for reflection and shared emotional experience.
As she works toward her forthcoming EP, Amma is expanding her sonic world, developing a more intentional, intimate and fully realised artistic vision. Her goal is to create music that transcends generational boundaries, with themes that resonate universally. “In 2026, I want to make music that connects with listeners across generations and reminds them that we all feel the same things,” she said. “I want anyone who hears my music to feel seen.”
A significant milestone in her rising career came with her selection as part of Apple Music’s Up Next programme in Nigeria—an initiative that spotlights emerging artists identified by global editorial teams. The programme has previously featured internationally acclaimed acts such as Billie Eilish, Burna Boy, Tems and Rema, placing Amma among a distinguished group of rising global talents.
Reflecting on the recognition, Amma described the moment as affirming: “Being selected for Apple Music’s Up Next is such a powerful moment for me. It feels good to be recognised for the work I’ve been putting in and the stories I’m trying to tell through my music.”
With a growing audience across streaming platforms and social media, Amma continues to carve out a space defined by authenticity, emotional depth and artistic intention, positioning herself as one of Nigeria’s promising voices in contemporary R&B.
