DJ Seche

Seche Udoba (or DJ Seche) is a female DJ based in Dar es Salaam Tanzania who uniquely experiments with the soundscapes of her city’s past and present. Having grown up with limited means and points of access to the arts, her practice is entirely self-taught through devoted engagement with online tutorials.

She works as Resident DJ and Studio Manager at Ajabu Ajabu Audio-House in Dar es Salaam where she hosts a consistent radio programme (Golden Hour - ‘Zilipendwa’ music from independence era Tanzania and Africa) as well as live music sessions that transcend category — featuring sounds of Afro Rumba, Afro Hip Hop, Singeli, and Reggae. She also supports the development of aspiring female DJs through the facilitation workshops and performs regularly at a wide range of venues across Dar es Salaam.

She is currently seeking opportunities to further develop her practice through training and exchange.
