Franciar

Bio

Born Francisca Magaret Msisha on 11 January 1992 in Kabwe, Zambia, Franciar is a Zambian pop and RnB artist who rose to fame in late 2010 with her hit record ‘Umutokofyompo’. She is one of the top female rap artists to emerge out of Zambia. She started singing at an early stage at a local church in Lusaka.

She attended her primary education at Harry Mwaanga Elementray School, her Middle School at Pamodzi Girls High School in Mufulira. She did her high School in 2008 at Matero Girls High School. In 2010, she went to NIPA College for a Business Administration course.

Her love for music prompted her to join a music choir together with her sister Rose. Whenever she sung, people always had something to say about her sweet voice. In her early teens, she competed in local talent shows and beauty pageants. Teaming up with her longtime friend and producer J.O.B, Franciar started recording underground music while her sister stood in as her manager. She got a recording deal when her sister took her demo to Ben Blazer who immediately signed her on his Blazer Studios label. Shortly afterwards, she began to make headlines in the local media. Her profile was enhanced when she released her hit record titled ‘Umutokofyompo’.

While enjoying her rise in the music industry, she continued to pursue her higher education and used that opportunity to write and record more records which have recently been released.

During her silent streak, she did voluntary work as a facilitator for Youth Alive Zambia and worked with various artists such as her producer and artist J.O.B. on his song ‘Puunkuutopwa’ and her brother Flexville Marley on his hit song ‘Tonight’. She worked with Bobby East on one of his records. She also had the opportunity of working with one of Zambia’s top hip-hop group called ‘Zone Fam’ on their record ‘Walking on the Moon’. She then featured Zone Fam’s group members J Rox and Verbal Assassin on her record ‘Dymandi’.

She is the only female artist signed to Blazer Studio. She has also featured on a number of other songs in a compilation called ‘Blazer Compilation’. The music project features all the artists signed to the label. She made an appearance on Petersen Zaggaze’s record called ‘Till the Morning’ and ‘Kokondodo’.

In May 2012, alongside Exile, Pompi and Flexvill, she was appointed to create a theme song for the Zone-6 games that included 10 different countries.

In September of 2013, she worked with Kdash music on a rap song titled ‘Ngombe Yonse’(All The Cows) written by Bobby East. Later in November 2013, she and Slap Dee performed at a Swedish music event. She represented Zambia during the cultural, hip-hop, talent and entrepreneurship exchange between Zambia and Sweden.
