NEFCISA
NEFCISA

The Music In Africa Foundation (MIAF) is proud of its partnership with the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) as a Strategic Implementing Partner (SIP) for its Social Employment Fund (SEF). Through this collaboration, MIAF is running a national programme that is creating jobs, addressing skills gaps, and strengthening South Africa's creative industries — in line with the SEF's overarching goal to generate work for the common good and build community value through employment, social contribution, and inclusive economic participation. Operating under the banner NEFCISA (National Employment Facility for Creative Industries in South Africa), the initiative is recruiting and training participants, matching them with host organisations, and has already placed 1 500 workers across the country — surpassing its original target of 1 000. NEFCISA is delivered through a network of 20 host organisations spanning five provinces, who are actively hosting participants and contributing to work for the common good across South Africa's creative and cultural industries. Key Objectives: Support employment and entrepreneurship in the creative industries. Offer skills development and training programmes. Foster partnerships between public and private creative sectors. Promote South African creativity at both provincial and national levels Foster community development through social contribution.

Gender@Work

Music In Africa Gender @ Work is a three-year training programme aimed at upskilling and increasing the participation of female professionals in the African music sector. Launched by the Music In Africa Foundation (MIAF) in April 2019, the programme is connected to the MIAF’s ACCES music conference – a pan-African event held in a different African country every year. This connection enables the programme to reach new participants in a different African country every year. The programme marks the beginning of a more concerted effort by the Foundation to support the participation and inclusion of women in all facets of its programmes and the music sector in Africa as a whole. Over the three years, the programme will aim to address gender imbalances in the sector through training, lobbying, facilitating knowledge exchange and dialogues that foster the interest of women. The broader objectives of the programme are to: Provide industry training for women on critical music industry skills, focusing on: Stage management Electronic music production and recording Music business management Technical knowledge Provide an opportunity for both professional and aspiring women to benefit from the Music In Africa network and its broad range of activities in 2019, 2020 and 2021. Sound Connects Fund
Sound Connects Fund

For cultural and creative practitioners and organisations operating in southern Africa, access to funding remains a major challenge. The COVID-19 pandemic has also had a massive impact on government policy, spending and the economy in general, and has seen spending on culture being moved further down the list of priorities. Further, the cultural and creative industries repeatedly cite four main areas where investment is needed for growth, which are increased visibility, mobility including access to new markets, finance and support structures.

Prayer Leshaba

BIO

Prayer Leshaba is a South African multidisciplinary creative from Atteridgeville, Pretoria, whose career spans music, photography, entrepreneurship, technology, agriculture, fashion, and property development.

An artist, songwriter, photographer, and entrepreneur, Prayer has built his journey around one central philosophy: create, build, and keep moving forward.

Known to many for his debut hit single “With Me,” produced by ZODBH, Prayer's story extends far beyond music. From writing songs as a primary-school learner to building businesses and technology platforms, his career reflects an independent spirit and an ambition to create opportunities rather than simply wait for them.

His work moves between sound, visual culture, business, technology, community development, and lifestyle — making him a distinctly multidisciplinary voice within South Africa's emerging creative and entrepreneurial landscape.

02 — THE STORY

Prayer's creative journey began in primary school, inspired by his best friend Trigger-Bang.

That friendship introduced him to the power of music, words, rhythm, and storytelling. His passion developed further when he connected with T-Ryda, and together they formed YTOD, a music duo driven by youthful ambition and the desire to create something of their own.

Music became more than a hobby. It became a language.

In 2010, Prayer began performing at school shows. What started with nerves gradually developed into confidence and stage presence. He later joined the school brass band, where he learned drums, piano, and guitar, expanding his understanding of music from songwriting into live performance.

Those early experiences established the foundation for the artist he would become.

03 — THE MUSIC

Prayer's recorded music career has been marked by experimentation, independence, and a willingness to tell personal stories.

SELECTED RELEASES

2014 — “Lookin Ass” feat. DJ Kutra McSwagga

Inspired by the life and hustle associated with Lil Wayne, the track represented Prayer's early willingness to create bold, uncompromising music.

“All I Need” feat. QuanDre

The track surpassed 80,000 plays on SoundCloud, demonstrating the growing interest around Prayer's music.

“Your Lies”

The song accumulated 70,000 plays within 10 days, becoming another important moment in his independent music journey.

21 MAY 2019

Prayer released his debut mixtape:

THE PERFECT LOVE TAPE

The project introduced audiences to a more personal side of Prayer — combining emotion, vulnerability, relationships, and self-expression.

For Prayer, it was more than a collection of songs.

It was an introduction.

04 — A CAREER BUILT INDEPENDENTLY

In 2019, Prayer reached a reported milestone of 480,000 streams, which he describes as a landmark moment in his independent career.

The achievement represented more than numbers. It demonstrated what could happen when an independent artist from Pretoria built an audience through persistence, creativity, and self-belief.

Prayer's career has continued to evolve without being restricted to one creative lane.

05 — THE ENTREPRENEUR

Prayer's entrepreneurial journey began remarkably early.

2014 — MENTALITY MULTIMEDIA

At just 15 years old, Prayer founded Mentality Multimedia.

With little more than a laptop, ambition, and a vision, he began developing a business around his creative interests.

The company became an important foundation for his later work across entertainment, media, technology, and creative production.

2015 — TSEK CLOTHING / VIBESTEEZ

Prayer became an ambassador for TSEK Clothing, also known as Vibesteez, combining his interests in music, fashion, youth culture, and streetwear.

The partnership became part of his early development as a creative personality and brand.

06 — BUILDING BEYOND MUSIC

Prayer's entrepreneurial interests expanded considerably over the following years.

2022 — UNCLE FREEZ FACTORY & FARM ENTERPRISE

Prayer launched Uncle Freez Factory and Farm Enterprise, entering the worlds of food processing, agriculture, manufacturing, and enterprise development.

The venture reflects his interest in creating businesses that can generate practical economic opportunities while contributing to local communities.

2024 — PHUTHANE SERVICES

Prayer founded Phuthane Services, a cleaning and services business named in honour of his father, Mphuphuthane Abram Leshaba.

The company later expanded into a carwash operation in Bronkhorstspruit, strengthening its connection to local service delivery and employment opportunities.

For Prayer, Phuthane Services represents more than entrepreneurship.

It represents legacy.

2025 — MERAPELO ESTATES

Prayer launched Merapelo Estates, a property-development vision focused on creating housing and spaces that combine affordability, sustainability, functionality, and a sense of luxury.

The philosophy behind the venture is simple:

Property should create dignity.

Merapelo Estates represents Prayer's transition from building creative projects to building physical spaces and long-term assets.

07 — 2026: THE EXPANSION YEAR

2026 represents one of the most expansive periods of Prayer's career.

Rather than choosing between music, technology, business, and creativity, he continued developing all of them simultaneously.

BORN TO CONQUER

An album centred around resilience, faith, determination, and overcoming adversity.

08 — PRAYER THE TECHNOLOGY BUILDER

In 2026, Prayer expanded into technology and digital product development.

EARNMIX

The platform reflects Prayer's interest in creating new digital models around content and audience participation.

It represents Prayer's interest in the relationship between technology, people, memory, and the future.

INVAGRY

Invagry is a smart-farming technology concept designed around agriculture, connectivity, and improved food production.

The platform reflects another side of Prayer's entrepreneurial vision: using technology to explore practical solutions within agriculture and food systems.

09 — THE NEXT CHAPTER

Prayer's ambitions continue beyond his existing ventures.

MORAPELO FOUNDATION

Prayer is working toward the Morapelo Foundation, an investment and empowerment initiative intended to support entrepreneurs, community development, and economic opportunity.

The long-term vision is to create structures through which ideas, businesses, and communities can gain access to resources and opportunities.

SWEVERLY

Prayer is also preparing to launch Sweverly, his own clothing brand.

Sweverly represents a return to one of the creative worlds that has always surrounded him: fashion, identity, visual culture, and personal expression.

10 — WHAT PRAYER REPRESENTS

Prayer Leshaba's career does not follow a traditional straight line.

It moves.

Music → Media → Fashion → Agriculture → Manufacturing → Services → Property → Technology → Investment

Each chapter has added another dimension to the same underlying identity: a creative person determined to build.

His story is rooted in Pretoria, but his ambitions extend beyond one city, one industry, or one definition of success.

He represents a generation of African creatives who are increasingly becoming their own producers, founders, designers, entrepreneurs, and technology builders.
