Call for applications: Armada Music sample competition featuring Chicane

The winning song will get released through dance music company Armada Music. The contest commemorates the 25th anniversary of the launch of the musician’s debut album Far from the Maddening Crowds, which is now available for sampling on Tracklib.

Armada Music is the biggest independent dance music label in the world, with a wide range of electronic music on its roster. The winning submission will be selected by Chicane, and will be released on Armada Music and form part of their award-winning catalogue.

“I’m excited to see what people can do now that I’ve made these samples available through Tracklib,” Chicane said. “In some way, it’s like passing the baton.

Armada Music head of publishing Michel Peek said: “Dance music has always been about sampling and re-using existing material, but offering music pre-cleared for sampling is a big leap. We find it inspiring Chicane is so forward-thinking and we’re curious to hear how Tracklib’s talent pool will use his repertoire.”

Tracklib is offering a special signup trial including 15 free downloads from their catalogue of more than 100 000 songs, including samples by musicians such as Isaac Hayes, Mozart, Jazz, Bob James. Samples from Tracklib have been used in major songs from artists like J. Cole, Phantogram, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar, Lil’ Wayne, DJ Khaled and BROCKHAMPTON.

How it Works

• Sample (not remix) one or more of the four songs here by Chicane.
• Produce a track with the style of Armada Music in mind.
• Post this picture on Instagram or Twitter and tag at least two producer friends in your post who should join this competition.
• Follow Tracklib and Armada Music on Instagram.
• Submit your track via this link.
• The winners will be announced on our social channels and on this blog page in September.

The submission deadline is 24 July.
