Gambia’s Wah Sa Halat releases 2019 award nominees

The ceremony will take place on 26 January at Kairaba Beach Hotel in Banjul. The awards were first held in 2016 and inspired by a radio show.

“The categories are 18 and each of them has four to five nominees and is determined by the works of an individual artist over the past years, and it must be original content," jury member Francis Abdul Malick Mendy said.

He added that a new category called the People’s Choice would go through the board but would be decided by the voting public. Another new category is the Activism Award, which will be given to an artist giving back to soceity through music.
