NEFCISA

The Music In Africa Foundation (MIAF) is proud of its partnership with the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) as a Strategic Implementing Partner (SIP) for its Social Employment Fund (SEF). Through this collaboration, MIAF is running a national programme that is creating jobs, addressing skills gaps, and strengthening South Africa's creative industries — in line with the SEF's overarching goal to generate work for the common good and build community value through employment, social contribution, and inclusive economic participation. Operating under the banner NEFCISA (National Employment Facility for Creative Industries in South Africa), the initiative is recruiting and training participants, matching them with host organisations, and has already placed 1 500 workers across the country — surpassing its original target of 1 000. NEFCISA is delivered through a network of 20 host organisations spanning five provinces, who are actively hosting participants and contributing to work for the common good across South Africa's creative and cultural industries. Key Objectives: Support employment and entrepreneurship in the creative industries. Offer skills development and training programmes. Foster partnerships between public and private creative sectors. Promote South African creativity at both provincial and national levels Foster community development through social contribution.

For cultural and creative practitioners and organisations operating in southern Africa, access to funding remains a major challenge. The COVID-19 pandemic has also had a massive impact on government policy, spending and the economy in general, and has seen spending on culture being moved further down the list of priorities. Further, the cultural and creative industries repeatedly cite four main areas where investment is needed for growth, which are increased visibility, mobility including access to new markets, finance and support structures.

Ghanaian-American artist MOLIY has released her debut mixtape, BADDIES MOLIY, through gamma, marking a new phase in her career following the international success of her breakout hit ‘Shake It To The Max (FLY) (Remix)’.

MOLIY.

The 12-track project, whose title is pronounced BADDIES LOVE MOLIY, draws on themes of empowerment, confidence and self-expression. It combines Afrobeats, dancehall, electronic music and futuristic production, with the project influenced by club culture, parties and global “baddie” aesthetics.

The mixtape features collaborations with South African singer Tyla, Dominican artist Yailin La Más Viral, Jamaican artists Skillibeng and Shenseea, producer and DJ Silent Addy, French-Congolese singer Theodora, Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie, UK rapper Br3nya, Nigerian Afrobeats artist Mavo, Berlin-London producer collective bees & honey and MOLIY's sister, Mellissa.

“I didn't want to stay in one lane with this mixtape,” MOLIY said. “Every song pulls from a different energy, sound, and part of my personality, but it all connects through confidence, freedom, and movement. It's like a party with no rules, just in time for a baddie summer.”

The project was preceded by the release of 911 (CALL THE LAW), a concept-driven track in which MOLIY uses a Y2K-inspired American Valley accent while narrating a story about pursuing an ex.

The mixtape moves between different musical styles, including the electronic and sultry production of ‘TOMETO’, the upbeat synth-pop sound of ‘POPSTAR’ and the African-influenced ‘BUKSHOT’, featuring Br3nya. On ‘ACCRA GIRLS’, MOLIY collaborates with Sarkodie and Mellissa, with Sarkodie delivering much of his verse in Twi.

Several previously released singles are also included on the project. These are ‘BODY GO’, featuring Tyla; ‘PARTYGYAL’, featuring bees & honey; ‘JETSKI (FRIKI)’, featuring Yailin La Más Viral and Theodora; and ‘SHAKE IT TO THE MAX [FLY] (REMIX)’, featuring Skillibeng, Shenseea and Silent Addy.

The latter track became a major international success, reaching No. 1 on Billboard's Afrobeats Songs chart in 2025 and surpassing one billion streams. It also received recognition as a 2025 Song of the Summer from Spotify and TikTok.

The release of BADDIES MOLIY follows MOLIY's 20-city North American tour with Skillibeng. She is also preparing for a headline tour of the UK and Europe.
