He was involved in a fatal accident in the capital city Accra on Sunday 23 October. His management team confirmed the death in a statement.
“We are shocked and in total state of sorrow,” said the statement. “We met with Vybrant and some of his family members on Sunday afternoon around 3pm and had a rather good discussion.
“Few hours after their departure we had a telephone call that Vybrant Faya had been admitted at the 37 Military Hospital after being involved in an accident.”
Early this year, Vybrant Faya’s video for his single ‘Budum Budum’ was banned by authorities for indecency, sparking outrage from the singer’s team. “To say the video was wrong, I disagree…To say you are rejecting the video is not fair,” said a representative at the time.
The statement continued: “We are grief-stricken and cannot hold back our tears. Our deep condolences to the family. Family of Vybrant Faya is yet to release official statement on the issue. May Allah find a peaceful place for you brother till we meet.”
Born Emmanuel Kojo Quayeson in 1987, Vybrant Faya is best known for the hit song ‘Mampi,’ which was released two years ago under the label, Shatta Movement Family. He is said to have been preparing to release a new single, ‘Position,’ before his death.
