Open call: Proposals for 2026/27 arts, sport and culture events

The Gauteng Department of Sport Arts Culture and Recreation has issued a call for proposals for sport, arts and culture events or festivals seeking funding for the 2026/27 financial year, which ends on 31 March 2027.
The department said proposals should align with the objectives of the Growing Gauteng Together 2030 (GGT2030) Programme of Action and broader government priorities aimed at accelerating service delivery.
Focus areas
Proposed events or festivals must demonstrate how they will:
- Improve living conditions in townships, informal settlements and hostels (TISH).
- Increase participation among women, youth and persons with disabilities.
- Generate employment opportunities for women, youth and persons with disabilities.
- Promote social cohesion and deliver localised economic impact by attracting residents.
- Achieve growth in audience numbers, spectatorship and media profile.
Submission requirements
Applicants must include the following documentation in their proposal:
- Most recent certified copy of the organisation or company registration certificate.
- Valid original tax clearance certificate and PIN.
- Most recent compliant Central Supplier Database (CSD) report, not older than 30 days, as registered with the Gauteng Department of Finance.
- Certified copies of identity documents of members or shareholders, not older than three months.
- Detailed company profile with at least two references.
- BBBEE certificate or sworn affidavit.
- Bank confirmation letter for an account in the name of the company or foundation.
- Project proposal with a costed implementation plan.
- Two written and signed endorsement letters from relevant public or private sector organisations.
- Latest audited financial statements or a letter from the auditor.

Applicants must clearly indicate the relevant reference number on the sealed envelope:
- Sport and Recreation: SACR/ME/2026/SR
- Arts and Culture: SACR/ME/2026/AC
No briefing session will be held for this request for proposals.

The closing date is 20 March 2026 at 4 p.m.
The department stated that applicants who do not receive a response within 60 days of the closing date should consider their submission unsuccessful.
