Open Call: Voices For Roxette invites artists worldwide to submit cover versions
15 Sep 2026 - 08:50
Voices For Roxette, an independent international non-profit music project created by fans, has opened submissions for musicians interested in contributing cover versions to a planned charity release celebrating the music of Roxette.
The call is open internationally and does not require participants to be professional musicians.
The project aims to bring together musicians from different countries to create new interpretations of songs associated with the Swedish pop duo. Selected recordings may be included on an official Voices For Roxette release, with proceeds remaining after distribution and transaction costs set to be donated to the Comprehensive Cancer Center (CCC) Tübingen-Stuttgart to support cancer research.
The initiative is not officially affiliated with Roxette, its rights holders or affiliated management.
Who can apply?
The call is open internationally and does not require participants to be professional musicians. Eligible contributors include:
- Solo artists
- Bands
- Bedroom or home producers
- Choirs
- Orchestras
- Professional musicians
- Fans creating their own musical recordings
Selection will focus on musical quality, creativity and suitability rather than commercial success.
What can be submitted?
Applicants can submit cover versions of officially released songs by Roxette, Marie Fredriksson, Per Gessle or related projects. Original compositions and mashups are not eligible.
Arrangements can draw from different genres, including acoustic, rock, pop, jazz, country, orchestral, electronic, metal or instrumental music. Creative interpretations are encouraged, provided the original composition remains recognisable.
AI-generated instrumental backing tracks are permitted under certain conditions. Lead vocals must be performed and recorded by a real person, while AI-generated or cloned voices are not allowed. Any AI-assisted elements must be disclosed when the recording is submitted.
AI-generated backing tracks must also be newly created and cannot contain samples, extracted stems or other material taken from the original recording.
Cover and copyright requirements
Submissions must comply with the following requirements:
- Original lyrics must remain unchanged.
- The melody must remain recognisable.
- The song must remain clearly identifiable as a Roxette composition.
- Copyright remains with the original songwriters and publishers.
- Participants are responsible for complying with copyright requirements applicable in their respective countries.
Recordings should preferably be produced specifically for Voices For Roxette. Previously released recordings may be considered in exceptional cases and must be submitted with their ISRC code.
Technical requirements
Submissions should be provided in WAV, FLAC or AIFF formats, with WAV preferred. High-quality MP3 files may also be accepted for review.
Applicants should provide:
- Artist name
- Contact person's details
- Country
- Short biography
- Artist photograph
- Song title
- Original song information
- Recording credits
Selection and release
An international fan committee will assess the submissions after the deadline. Entries may be reviewed anonymously to ensure that the evaluation focuses on the music rather than the identity of the artist.
Selection will be based on factors including musical quality, originality, creativity, emotional impact and suitability for the final compilation. The committee's decision is final, and submission does not create a right to publication.
Selected recordings may be released on streaming platforms and, subject to feasibility, physical formats such as CD or vinyl. Participation does not guarantee that a recording will be included in the final release.
Charity proceeds
Voices For Roxette operates as a non-profit initiative. After unavoidable transaction and distribution costs, all remaining proceeds from the project will be donated to the Comprehensive Cancer Center (CCC) Tübingen-Stuttgart.
The organisers say a summary of the amount donated will be published after the project is completed.
By submitting a recording, participants retain ownership of their recording while granting Voices For Roxette permission to use it as part of the benefit project.
The organisers have also called on participants to treat everyone involved in the project respectfully, with discrimination and insults not permitted.
Voices For Roxette is an independent fan initiative and has no official connection to Roxette, the original rights holders or affiliated management.
