SA: Kwesta to anchor Jameson online sessions
Jameson Irish Whiskey has launched a month-long playbook comprising live streams of music performances, comedy and discussions that will be broadcast on social media starting Saturday 18 April.
Jameson Connects: The Stay Inn will take place over the next four weeks and will be hosted by South African award-winning rapper Kwesta, stand-up comedian Glen Biderman-Pam and Japanese-South African TV host Lalla Hirayama.
The series seeks to eradicate social boundaries while encouraging people to overcome their fears and reconnect as a global family. It also aim to raise funds for bartenders and restaurant workers affected by the COVID-19 crisis. Jameson will donate money for a certain number of people who tune in to watch the live streams.
Jameson Connects: The Stay Inn will feature Smooth Session Saturday, Sunday Special and Wildin’ Wednesday. The events will be streamed every Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday on Instagram Live, Instagram Live TV (IGTV), Facebook and YouTube.
“During these challenging times we want to embrace the change and bring hope,” Jameson and Irish Whiskeys marketing manager at Pernod Ricard, Beatrice Marfleet, said. “Through this playbook, Jameson is making together better, even if it means being apart.
“We are excited about this initiative as we work together at a distance towards a new world and way of life. Jameson is dedicated to doing what we’ve always done – bringing cultures and communities together to celebrate life, but with a conscience.”
The first Stay Inn begins on Saturday at 3pm with Lalla Hirayama conducting an exclusive Instagram Live interview with Kwesta. The interview will be followed by Kwesta’s performance at 5pm. The Smooth Sessions will take place every Saturday at 5pm featuring top local musicians.
The Sunday Special sessions will be hosted on Instagram by Biderman-Pam and a handful of renowned comedians starting on 19 April at 3pm. Tumi Morake will be Binderman-Pam’s first guest on Instagram Live this Sunday followed by sketches and skits on IGTV.
Wildin’ Wednesday will roar into life via Instagram on 22 April. The show will feature music and life discussions between Kwesta and other leading Jameson Connects artists from around the globe. On 22 April, Kwesta will also announce a once-in-a-lifetime competition on Jameson’s Instagram page.
