2019 BET Awards: All the nominees
The nominees for the 2019 edition of the BET Awards were announced on Friday ahead of the awards ceremony at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles on 23 June.
African artists AKA (South Africa), Burna Boy (Nigeria), Mr Eazi (Nigeria) and Aya Nakamura (Mali/France) were nominated in the Best International Act category alongside Dave (UK), Giggs (UK) and Dosseh (France).
Sho Madjozi (South Africa) and Teniola Apata (Nigeria) were the only African acts nominated in the Best New International Act – (Viewers' Choice) category. They are competing against Headie (UK), Octovian (UK), Jokair (France) and Nesly (France).
Cardi B is leading the list with seven nominations followed by Drake with five. Travis Scott, Beyoncé and J Cole have four nominations each while 21 Savage, Bruno Mars, Childish Gambino, H.E.R. and Ella Mai are sitting with three nominations apiece.
