Filbert Marova

BIO

Filbert is an award-winning (Zimbabwe Music Awards Best Jazz Artist 2006) multi-instrumentalist well-known in the Zimbabwe music circles as a jazz pianist and composer. With a career spanning over 35 years of active music making, Filbert co-founded several music bands including the late 80s boy band Frontline Kids and Jazz Invitation. Some of his well-known compositions include BP performed by Jazz Invitation and Mandega performed by Prudence Katomeni Mbofana. Filbert has released four jazz albums namely Kariba Bream, Nyanga Trout, Hard Hat Area and Zim Jazz Chapter One. On 22 January 2021, Filbert unveiled a new experimental project dubbed Mbiriano where he plays mbira music on the piano, a fusion of traditional mbira vibes with jazz. On Africa Day, 25 May 2023, Filbert will be releasing a 6 track project entitled 'Mbiriano Style' on all major online stores.
