Coke Studio Africa announces all-female finale
Music TV series Coke Studio Africa is set to air a special season finale featuring an all-female line-up. The episode will be broadcast across Africa from 29 March.
“We are very excited to announce an all-women episode finale of the 2019 edition of Coke Studio Africa," Coca-Cola southern and East African business unit head of content excellence Monali Shah said. "It’s the first time the production is taking such a bold move in its history to spotlight the amazing talent we have in entertainment.
“The kind of talent and artists we met and discovered during the process was mind-blowing and we can’t wait till music fans of the show can watch this powerful episode that will be airing across over 40 countries starting 29 March 2019.”
The episode will also highlight key behind-the-scenes female crew members, such as content directors, scriptwriters, editors, camera operators and floor managers, among others. About 60% of all the professionals that work on Coke Studio Africa are women.
Kenyan women who will make an appearance in the final episode include Kasiva Mutua, Wendy Kemunto, Nazizi, Ivy Alexander, Naomi Ziro, Viola Karuri and Mutindi Tindi Muasa. Others include Lioness (Namibia), Boity (South Africa), Sheebah (Uganda), Nandy (Tanzania), Lourena Nhate (Mozambique) and Tamy (Zimbabwe), among others.

The show has also featured international musicians such as US R&B artists Trey Songz and Jason Derulo. Last year, the Coke Studio Africa YouTube channel was awarded the YouTube Silver Creator Award in recognition of surpassing more than 100 000 subscribers.
