MTN Liberia Music Awards 2020: All the nominees

The announcement was made public at a press conference in the country’s capital Monrovia on 25 September.

Some of the West African country’s most notable artists – including Eric Geso, MC Caro, TeddyRide, Kpanto, Boifatty and J Slught – have all been nominated in the coveted Artist of the Year category. Other nominees include Jesse Pratt, Princess Snowe Yancy, Scientific, CY and Raquel Hage.

Speaking at the launch of this year’s awards, the chief financial officer of the MLMAs, Dede D’Almeida, spoke about the many leaps that her outfit had recorded in the past seven years and applauded all stakeholders for their respective roles in continually making the awards platform a success.

"Our team is fully aware of the many challenges our fellow entertainers encounter daily in the Liberian music industry. As such, we are pleased to work with a positive mindset to bring tangible results to the table of the music industry,” she said. 

D’Almeida added that her team would remain firm in its commitment to support the country’s music industry. “We have also pledged to facilitate the exposure, promotion and celebration of the arts through music, to make Liberian music a mass appeal genre.”

Fans can vote for their favourite artists via the MLMA website or by texting the artist’s code, which can be found on the MLMA Facebook page, to 1160. Voting is open until 30 October.

This year’s event is slated for 4 November in Monrovia.
