SA: Searching for Paradise compilation finalists announced
Women In Music South Africa (WIMSA) has announced the finalists of its Searching for Paradise compilation, which will be released on 29 April.
In January this year, WIMSA, in collaboration with Paradise Sound System and Trace Southern Africa, put out an open call for emerging women-identifying musicians to submit songs for a chance to be featured on the compilation.
The album will feature songs in genres such as pop, R&B, hip hop and house, with each track narrating a different story. WIMSA is encouraging listeners to stream and share their favourite song, as the finalist with the most streams will win the competition and get a music video as part of the prize package.
“As the competition nears conclusion, the power lies in the hands of you, the listener. You are urged to keep your ear tuned to your preferred streaming platform,” WIMSA said.
Women In Music is a global organisation that aims to advance the awareness, equality, diversity, heritage, opportunities and cultural aspects of women in the musical arts through education, support, empowerment and recognition. The South African chapter of WIMSA was established in 2020.
