Amâncio Miguel Vilanculos
Bio
Amâncio Miguel Vilanculos is a media professional born in Mozambique, currently based in Virginia, in the United States of America, and working as journalist for the Voice of America.
Formerly he was with Rádio Moçambique (Mozambique’s public radio) and the United Nations as a communication specialist.
Amâncio authored a book of Mozambican musicians biographies, entitled “Marrabentar, Vozes de Moçambique”, in 2004. He has written extensively for various international publications and radio stations, including Índico, Mozambique’s airline in-flight magazine, Qpassa Magazine, VOA and RFI.
In the area of music production, he was the executive producer of the CDs Kewa Zambézia (a collection of artists from Zambézia, the second most populous province in Mozambique), and singers Machonguezy and Formiga Ntutu, from Niassa, Mozambique's most neglected province. He also assisted the popular group Massukos to produce their first recordings and CDs.
