Fungisai Zvakavapano Mashavave
Bio
Born on 27 January 1981, Fungisai Zvakavapano Mashavave is a Zimbabwean recording artist whose passion for music kick started at a tender age. She attended Mutoko High School where she was a member of a group the Heaven Bound Family. Before choosing a career, she initially wanted to study teaching or marketing but all these dreams were shattered when she met veteran gospel singer Elias Musakwa in 2000. She became part of his backing vocalists at a church function when one of his backing vocalists pulled out. Fortunaltely she had her demo with a few songs which she gave to Musakwa after that show. Weeks later, Musakwa called her to record her first album ‘Tinokutendai Ishe Vol 1’ (2000).
As of 2015, she had released 12 albums. In 2014, she featured in a Zimbabwean movie called ‘Chinhoyi 7’. Apart from music, she is involved in various charitable activities and sits on various boards that include the National Aids Council of Zimbabwe. In May 2015, she launched an organization called Vulnerable Women Development Trust bent on assisting talented girls and who want to make it in the music ministry. She has travelled and perfomed both regionally and internationally.
