Macky 2

Born on 10 October 1984, Macky 2 (real name Mulaza Kaira) is a Zambian hip-hop musician, singer and producer. He is known for participating in the ninth season of Big Brother Africa, where he became third in the competition. He runs the Macky 2 Hope Foundation which supports orphans and vulnerable children. His younger brother Kondwani Kaira is also a musician.

Kaira’s passion for music began in his childhood after attending the Catholic Church in Ndola. In 2011, he left home to travel to Lusaka, where he released his album ‘Ndimupondo’. The album was released under the Digital X label with Alfa Entertainment and J-Kayo. Some of the hit songs which featured on the album include ‘I am The President’ and ‘Number 1 Fan’. The songs received radio play and were positively received by the community. He has released four notable albums, namely ‘Legendary’ (2012), ‘Ndimupondo’, ‘Too Much Influence’ and ‘Zero to Hero’ (2013).

In 2013, his ‘Legendary’ album received the Zambia Music Award in the Album of The Year category. In 2014, he was nominated in the Zambia Music Awards in the following categories: Best Mainstream Artist, Best Hip Hop/Rap Album and Best Collaboration.
Apart from music, he was a contestant during the ninth season of Big Brother Africa.
