Deezer to let users filter out fully AI-generated music

Music streaming platform Deezer plans to introduce a feature allowing users worldwide to exclude fully AI-generated music from their listening experience before the end of 2026.
Deezer chief executive Alexis Lanternier.
The feature will be accessible through a toggle that removes fully AI-generated tracks from search results, according to the company. Deezer has not clarified how it will distinguish fully AI-generated music from tracks created with the assistance of artificial intelligence.
The planned launch follows the platform’s efforts to identify and manage AI-generated uploads. Deezer became the first digital streaming platform (DSP) to label AI-generated music in 2025. It has since expanded its detection efforts, flagging streams associated with suspected fraudulent activity and removing or demonetising some tracks.
Deezer’s chief executive, Alexis Lanternier, said the new feature responds to demand from listeners who want greater control over the music they hear.
“The explosion of AI-generated content continues to impact the whole music ecosystem, and we believe in shaping a future based on transparency and choice, with respect for artists, songwriters and music fans,” Lanternier said.
“We remain committed to minimising any negative effects, while empowering our users to control their music experience to the greatest extent. We’ve seen a clear user demand for the ability to filter out AI-generated music, and we are now giving everyone the option to remove this content completely from their streaming experience on Deezer, and focus only on human creators and creations, if they wish,” he added.
The announcement comes amid growing concerns about the volume of AI-generated music appearing on streaming services and its potential impact on artists and royalty payments. Deezer previously reported that nearly 100,000 AI-generated tracks were being uploaded to streaming platforms daily at one point.
Other industry developments include efforts to address fraudulent streaming activity and unauthorised AI-generated content. In June, Tidal announced that it would stop paying royalties for AI-generated music. Meanwhile, Sony Music was reported to have sought the removal of more than 250,000 AI-generated uploads it considered infringing in October.
Deezer’s proposed filter would give listeners the option to exclude fully AI-generated tracks, while leaving the precise treatment of AI-assisted music unresolved. The feature is scheduled for a global rollout before the end of 2026.
