Africori partners with Warner Chappell Music France
South Africa-based Africori this week announced that it had partnered with Warner Chappell Music France on a global sub-publishing deal.
The new deal follows April’s news that Africori teamed up with Warner Music Group to provide the digital music service with global distribution rights.
Africori, which offers music rights management and artist development services, is reportedly the largest digital distribution platform in sub-Saharan Africa.
The partnership will see both companies create new opportunities for African artists to collaborate with songwriters from around the world.
“African music is inspiring creatives from around the world,” Africori CEO Yoel Kenan said. “This new partnership provides a great opportunity to connect our African songwriters and producers with the global talent signed to Warner Chappell. We are very excited about the future and we see this as a key alliance to support, help and develop incredible African talent globally.”
Warner Chappell Music France incoming managing director Matthieu Tessier said: “Yoel is an experienced A&R man with a great sensibility for, and huge expertise on, the African underground scene. This new collaboration offers us a great opportunity to promote new African songwriters and contribute to the renown of their music worldwide. Master KG’s success is a great example of how we can develop talent and help amazing songs to cross borders.”
Launched in 2009, Africori boasts offices in Johannesburg, Lagos and London, and represents more than 6 500 artists and 700 labels. The music distributor publishes for an array of African artists such as Master KG, who achieved phenomenal success with his runaway hit ‘Jerusalema’, which reached No 1 on Shazam’s global chart.
