Vic O

Bio

Vic O is a Nigerian rapper and singer. Born Victor Ncha Odu, he received his secondary school education in Warri, a town in the South-south region of Nigeria.

Although he is said to have begun his career 2007 and released his debut album in 2008, it was in 2012, Vic O drew the attention of the Nigerian audience with the song ‘Why Evils’. Based on a beat by producer Don Jazzy, Vic O recorded a song that, based on the response by social media, sounded like a parody of itself.

Since then he has been called ‘a clown’, ‘a nuisance’, ‘unserious’. Since then he has become more popular. In 2015, in the middle of the beef between US rappers Drake and Meek Mill, Vic O announced that he was going to release a diss song that was going to ‘murder’ both rappers. The song was met with derision, but trended on social media for a while. A video showing the Italy-based Nigerian burying photos of Drake and Meel Mill followed the song release. Once again social media erupted with mentions of Vic O. He later released a cover of Adele’s 2015 single ‘Hello’.

Vic O has scheduled a Nigerian debut album for 2016. “What’s next for me is the release of my album titled ‘Best of Vic O’,” he told an interviewer. “This is my first Nigerian album because the other record I have released was dropped in Europe.”

Joining a long line of people who have reacted to Vic O’s rise in fame, rapper MI listed 10 reasons Vic O is "the greatest". Among the reasons: “He produces, sings, raps, directs and edits his own shit.”
