Wizkid, Davido win again

Wizkid, who made history by becoming the first African artist to win Best International Act at the MOBO Awards, walked away with the Young Person of the Year Award, while Davido took the trophy for Musician of the Year.

Wizkid has won multiple awards this year and is no stranger to seeing his name alongside his fellow Nigerian. The two were nominated in the Best African Act category at the MTV Europe Music Awards, which was taken by the ‘Fall’ hitmaker, while Wizkid came out tops at the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMAs) with three gongs.

Among Wizkid’s top achievements this year is selling out the Royal Albert Hall in London, UK. Davido, on the other hand, was named as one of the most Bankable African Musicians by Forbes and became the most followed Nigerian celebrity on Instagram.

The perpetual recognition the pair is getting seems to have reignited a rivalry that apparently ended at a D’banj concert in 2015. The two, however, have been at it on social media this year, with Davido taking the first stab at his ‘rival’ in Olamide's 'Summer Body' that was released on 4 July.

Future Awards Africa were conceived in 2004 by Chude Jideonwo and Adebola Williams to celebrate young Africans between the ages of 18 and 31. The first ceremony was held at the Muson Centre in Lagos in 2006.
