BIO
Edith Manyika, popularly known as Edith Mwana WeShonga a stage name she uses to honour her mother’s totem), is a recording artist from Zimbabwe.
Edith was born and grew up in Shamva which is located in the province of Mashonaland Central, Zimbabwe. She started singing at six years old, mostly within church circles including being part of the praise and worship group at the age of 16. Along the way, her passion for music grew and was nurtured by compliments received from people. This created a backdrop to her professional music carer.
Edith holds a Bachelor’s degree in Theology. Her music is a blend of Afrobeats, jazz, reggae and house. 2021 marked the beginning of her professional career. It saw her release her first single titled 'You Can Make It'. This was followed by the well-received second single titled 'Chakanaka Chinokutevera'.
In 2021 Edith released two other pre-album singles, collaborating with two other veterans in the Zimbabwe music industry. Edith Mwana Weshonga's first album titled Chipo Changu was released in January 2022.
