BIO
Shanky was born Theresa Shangazhike in Zimbabwe. She is a performer and singer based in the UK. She rose to fame through her urban grooves music which was played on a number of online radio stations in both Europe and Africa. She began singing in a choir at the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Harare at a tender age of 5. She only joined because her sister was in the choir too. Her involvement in the choir kick started her love for music and after an audition with the vocal coach she developed her talent and her passion only grew.
She moved to the UK at 13. Her debut performance was at the Zim Cup Clash in 2012.Her debut single was ‘Swederera’ featuring Roby Gee. She featured on Stunner and Roby Gee’s music video ‘Sele Mama Sele’. She has also featured on Decibel ft Bkay and Kazz’s music video titled ‘Dancehall Style’.
In 2014, she did her own version of the Zimbabwe National Anthem to celebrate the country's independence. The video was broadcasted on UK TV Channel and YouTube. In 2013, she was nominated in the Female Artist of the Year category at the he third Zimbabwe Music and Arts Awards (ZIMAA UK). In 2014, she won the Female Artist of the Year category at the Zimbabwe Music Awards (ZIMA). Apart from music, she is a part-time model.
