The Music In Africa Foundation (MIAF) invites applications for internship in the production of its flagship annual event ACCES.
This opportunity forms part of the National Employment Facility for Creative Industries in South Africa (NEFCISA), a national work placement programme designed to address unemployment and skills gaps in the creative sector.
This opportunity offers a strong entry point into large-scale cultural programme delivery, with direct exposure to the coordination of a leading pan-African music trade event taking place in Johannesburg this year.
Role overview
Selected interns will support the planning and delivery of ACCES-related activities, including pre-event activations, stakeholder coordination and operational support. We are looking for highly organised individuals with strong administrative, coordination and communication skills.
Key responsibilities
- Support the coordination of ACCES-related programme activities
- Assist with stakeholder liaison, including clients, partners and delegates
- Support delegate mobilisation campaigns
- Support participant coordination, including communication, tracking and reporting
- Assist in organising workshops, training sessions and activation events
- Support logistics, scheduling and on-site coordination during activations
- Assist with data collection, reporting and basic M&E processes
- Maintain accurate records of activities, participants and outputs
- Provide general administrative support to the project team
Requirements
- A relevant tertiary qualification (or currently completing) in Arts Management, Project Management, Media, or a related field
- Strong interest in the creative industries, particularly music
- Basic experience in coordination, administration or events (academic or practical)
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Willingness to travel when required

Placement period and wage
- Placements will run from May to November 2026
- Interns will work for between 8 - 12 days per month and receive a monthly wage
- Additional training and mentorship opportunities will be provided through MIAF
