Creative Asylum, a development project that uses different art forms to solve problems, is recruiting volunteers to interview the public for three weeks in Kampala, Uganda.
“The Creative Asylum is a madhouse organisation with a passion for sharing how various creative individuals solve problems,” the organisers of the project said in a statement.
“We run a monthly event series that celebrates creative people from all walks of life across Africa and build an environment for an in-depth and productive exchange of problems, questions and answers to help build individuals, businesses and nations.”
In February, Creative Asylum's Gabriel Mundaka spoke to Music In Africa about the scheduling switch. “We started off as an underground annual meet-up for Ugandan creatives. But as of this year, it will be a monthly event with guests from across the continent such as Kenya, Ghana and South Africa,” he said.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the new position, aspiring volunteers must:
- Be Ugandan.
- Be between 25 and 35.
- Be willing to sign an agreement with their host, which shall guide the terms of deployment.
Successful applicants will be required to interview Ugandans operating in the performing arts, creative arts, TV, fashion, textile design, graphic design and film. The data collected will be used to initiate an exchange of ideas between Ugandan creatives with a focus on education, showcases, networking and community development.
Since its launch in 2018, the programme has focused on the state of live entertainment in Africa and the way forward, and community service and how best Africans can be involved.
Interested applicants are required to fill the online application form here. Only successful applicants will be contacted and provided with information on remuneration.
The application deadline is 17 May 2019.
