Uganda: Bayimba International Festival returns 24 August
The 14th edition of the Bayimba International Festival of the Arts will take place in Lunkulu Island, Uganda, from 24 to 28 August.
The Bayimba Festival of the Arts is a five-day event that is held at Bayimba Foundation’s new home known as Lunkulu Island located off the shores of Lake Victoria in Mukono and Buikwe districts.
The event, which is making a return since the COVID-19 pandemic struck, will serve as a convergence point for both locals and international visitors who want to be at one with the African culture and nature.
“In the wake of the pandemic, many activities were turned upside down and many activities were put on hold,” festival organiser Faisal Kiwewa said. “Thankfully, we made it through and now we are happy to bring you another exciting edition of the Bayimba Festival of the Arts.”
Every August, the festival offers its ever-growing audience an unforgettable experience that includes music, dance, poetry, comedy, film, fashion, games, and even camping.
“Our goal for this year's festival of art is to stand together and rebuild our artists’ community as we cope with the devastating effects of the pandemic. Our programme this year is focused on igniting trust, and embracing our ecological surroundings to understand who we are,” Kiwewa added.
There will be a wide range of performers from Uganda, including Pallaso, Spice Diana, Cindy Sanyu, Daddy Andre, King Saha, Chance Nalubega and Afrigo Band, among others.
The festival will also feature top DJs from East Africa such as Shiru, Suuna Ben, Nesta, Wanzah and Almost Famous.
Interested participants can book their tickets by using the Airtel merchant code 1193345 (in Uganda), or send an email to info@bayimba.org.
